Thunder and Lightning

Thunder and Lightning
I know a lot of people who are scared of thunder and lightning. They think that it’s scary and frightening. Well I think differently. I absolutely love watching thunder and lightning. For instance yesterday night it was lightning out and I was in bed but once I heard it, I automatically jumped out of bed and looked outside my window. I just find it so beautiful on how the lightning lights up the sky and for a moment, it seems like it is morning, because everything is lit up. Many people think that lightning is horrible and horrifying but I just think it’s part of nature.  I was pretty sad when it stopped lightning, but I was still happy to see that little bit of heaven.

The Hundreth Dove Essay

The Hundredth Dove Essay
Dawn has finally come. The sun slowly rose; its light reflected the dew on the grass like sparkling crystals. One by one beautiful doves appeared onto the clearing like soundless mist. The fowler, hiding behind a rough rock, felt no pity for catching doves to give to the king. Slowly he took out his net and gracefully leaped up, catching as many doves as he could. He must remember “Servo” (I serve) it was his motto and he must obey it. In the amazing story “The Hundredth Dove” by Jane Yolen, Huge, the main character, learns a great lesson the hard way.
An example is that if you obey something/someone and do everything they ask without question, it’s like you’re a robot. You don’t know what is good and what is bad. You think that you must do it because you’re told to do it. And you loose sense of yourself because you’re saying “Oh I know this is bad, but my master told me to do it so it’s okay.”
When you’re in someone else’s control many bad things happen. This happens to many people. For example if someone really needs money and a person offers you money to go steal something, you would probably go and do it because you are so dedicated to getting that money. This is what happens to Huge because he is so dedicated to his motto “Servo” that Huge ends up killing the woman he loves, because Huge thought he needed to serve.
When Huge killed the woman he loved, he finally got the message. Huge woke up from his dozy dream of obeying everything the king told him to do. Like many people, Huge felt horrible and sad for what he’d done. Just like other people feel bad for their mistakes. So by obeying the king, Huge paid a great consequence. This is a great lesson for everyone, because you need to always have your conscious on you. You need to decide what is right and what is wrong. Because in the end things will probably backfire on you. In the amazing story “The Hundredth Dove” by Jane Yolen, Huge, the main character, learns a great lesson the hard way.

PUPS

PUPS
When people look at the picture below the first thing that usually pops into their heads are “Aww look at those adorable puppies!” but what comes into my head is “Wow those puppies are very lucky to have a good life.” I think this because those puppies are all cute and clean, but other puppies are abandoned are barley get any food and water. Some puppies are abused and hurt. And some puppies don’t get love because they are “ugly”. Well to me all puppies are the same…they are all living beautiful creatures. People need to realized that it’s the same for animals as for humans….don’t just a book by its cover, don’t judge puppies by their looks, because they are beautiful inside but they are also scared because since they’ve never felt love before they don’t know what to do, so care for them and love them they you love the puppies below!

MOVIES

Movies
By: Andrea Basile
I love movies. There are different types of movies such as comedy, action, mystery and romance. Personally my favorite is type of movie is action with comedy in it with mystery and a little romance….or just action with romance. I love action with romance because it makes me feel so….I don’t know how to describe it….but it makes me forget about everything, what’s happening at school, whose dating who, gossip, everything.  I just focus on the movie and it’s like nothing else exist.  Good example of an action movie with romance is “knight and day” with Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz. Personally I love Tom Cruise he is one of my favorite male actors. That movie made me want to live in it. It made me think “wow I wish I was there in real life living that moment over and over again”.
The point is, is that movies make you feel good, and sometimes you can compare them to your real life. Movies get you thinking about other things than what’s happening in your life at that momentJ.

THE PEARL

The Pearl
By: Andrea Basile
What would happen if you found a pearl of the world? That’s what happens in “The Pearl” by John Steinbeck. Kino, the main character, was having his usual day, until a scorpion fell on his baby son and stung him. The baby was in desperate need for a doctor. But sadly the only doctor in the town was a white person….and the white people were racist so the doctor refused to help Coyotito’s scorpion bite unless Kino had good money to offer. Kino had nothing so his only hope was to find a pearl worth enough to pay the doctor. In “The Pearl” by John Steinbeck Kino, the main character, becomes is obsessed with a pearl and eventually destroys his family.
When Kino finds “the pearl of the world” he thinks it’s so valuable and that it meant so much to have it in his possession. Kino could finally get married in a church, could pay the doctor to heal his son, would get his son to go to a school and learn how to read and write, could buy other food besides cornbread and life would be so, so good for Kino and his family. And at first it was great and it was a good thing to have this pearl, but little by little the pearl started to get dangerous and evil.
Suddenly people start to see the riches this pearl could give them, and people started to want it really bad and they’d do just about anything to get it. People from the town started to come into Kino’s house to try to steal it, and they’ve even tried to kill Kino. But Kino is so obsessed with the pearl to give in...even though this pearl was starting to put his family in danger he still didn’t let it go.
Even when Kino didn’t want to let it go, Juana could see the evil in the pearl and she wanted it out of her house before it destroyed her family. Juana tried to talk to Kino about how evil the pearl was but Kino didn’t listen and instead got mad at Juana for even suggesting to get rid of it. An example of Kino being greedy and obsessed is on page 59 Juana tried to throw the pearl back into the lake, but Kino caught her and he was so angry that she tried to get rid of it that he beat her, kicking her in the side and punching her. So the pearl of the world brought Kino’s bad side out so much, that he beat his own wife. Another example is when Kino tried to sell the pearl to the pearl buyers, and the pearl buyers gave a fairly good price but he still said no and that he wanted a much higher price. Another example was when Kino said to his brother Juan Tomas on page 67 “This pearl as become my soul, and if I give It up I shall lose my soul.”  This statement that Kino made means that the pearl is pretty much all that Kino has to live for and that it is more important than anything else. Kino will now do anything for the sake of the pearl and now that the pearl is in control of Kino.
In the end the book Kino didn’t gain anything from the pearl and lost his only son. Kino got so obsessed that he didn’t realize that he was always putting his son and family in danger. So the lesson that Kino learned was never to put wealth in front of your family because it is not worth it.

LOVE QUOTE

                                                    Love Quote
Have you ever loved someone? Felt passionate about them? Your heart races every single time they text you, call you, or speak to you? Well there’s this love quote that I LOVE. The quote is “There is only one happiness in life, to love and to be loved.”  I love this quote because it is so true. You want to be loved by someone…someone who has a shoulder for you to cry on…someone to hold you when you’re down…someone to send you romantic text messages and someone to make your heart skip a beat every time you see them. And not just them loving you, but you loving them. Everybody wants to be loved, so show them love, even if you love them as a friend. This quote means more than it seems, it sums everything up. Everything that I want to say, is in this quote. And it says it all in 13 amazing, pure, true words….I love it.
